A Watercolor Class for Non-Artists: Scriptures of Peace

In this 4-lesson course, I’ll walk you through creating beautiful designs inspired by the scriptures.

For this course, we will focus on four different scriptures of PEACE.

Here’s the design I will walk you through creating in Lesson 1!

I even provide a print out line drawing for each lesson, which you can print and trace if you do not feel comfortable drawing from scratch. :)

Let’s carve out a time to:

  • meditate on His word

  • practice a new skill

  • develop a new creative hobby

… all within an online experience.

I want to help you feel confident in creating inspired illustrations in your own journaling Bible.

I’ll walk you through drawing out the designs step-by-step, and then adding watercolors to your page!

Hi, I’m Jennifer – a professional watercolor illustrator

I love people! And I doubly love sharing my love of art with others. I have taught private classes, a local homeschool art class for kiddos, classes through the local art guild, and even as a public high school art teacher for a year.

And I want to share my love of watercolors with YOU.

I will walk you through step-by-step using watercolors for Bible Journaling.

Did you know…

There are actual HEALTH benefits to having a “creative outlet”?!...

These include: lower blood pressure, reduce in cortisol (the stress hormone), decrease in BMI (Body Mass Index), reduce in anxiety/stress/depression, and increase in mindfulness acting as meditation.

So, just because you aren’t an artist (and probably have no desire to be) doesn’t mean you don’t still crave a positive outlet for stress, overwhelm, and overthinking.

“We hosted a ‘painting party’ for the ladies of our church congregation.  Attendees aged from 6 to ‘I’m not telling.’ LOL  We ranged from no experience to some experience – we all learned a lot. She did a great job planning, preparing and teaching.  Everyone loved it and wants to do it again! “ - Kathy

Reasons to Bible Journal:

  • Block out a time that is between you and God, really focusing on His word and specific verses.

  • Memorize scripture better.

Did you know writing things by hand is scientifically proven to help you remember them better?

“In addition to being faster and more accurate, the fMRI neuroimaging data from this "paper notebooks vs. mobile devices" study suggest that the act of physically writing things down on paper is associated with more robust brain activation in multiple areas and better memory recall.” - Psychology Today

  • Set aside time to enjoy creating with your hands.

What you will need to have with you for the class:

• watercolors (cake palette or tubes)

*if you have tube watercolors, have a paper plate or something to put them onto

• cup of water

• brushes

• pencil & eraser

• paper towels

• Micron pens

• Journaling Bible

*you could use a notebook of watercolor paper, if you don't want to journal straight onto your Bible. :)

You are welcome to use whatever supplies you have, but if you need supplies… you will be given Amazon links after checkout to the exact items I’ll be using!

More about the artist…

As a long-time lover and student of the fine arts, I started drawing when I was 5 years old. It was my ‘thing.’ So when kiddos ask me, “how do you do that?!,” I respond with, “If you practice anything for 30 years, you’ll probably be good at it.” ;)

With various art classes – really any I could find and my parents would allow me to take – I just loved creating. Learning new mediums. Making something with my hands.

I attended college at O’More College of Design (2010 cum laude graduate) in Franklin, where I studied “visual communications”… aka graphic design. I took an Illustration class in college, where I was introduced to watercolors.

I currently work as a watercolor illustrator out of my home studio in middle Tennessee.

I love stepping back from the computer and using watercolors, pencils, and pens to create something personalized with my own two hands. And I use my graphic design training to edit my work, set up for print, etc. for my products sold under my business name, Cordially Creative.

My long-haired, dappled dachshund, Oliver, also helps with moral support of tail wags and puppy love.

I’d love to know how I can use my God-given talents to serve you!
